The Gin Martini is the classic cocktail, no doubt about it. It’s beloved by all and perfect for every occasion. How is a Hendrick’s Gin Martini different? Well, you’ll just have to try it!
The history of the Gin Martini dates back to the mid – 18th century. However, the true story of the original recipe of the most famous cocktail how it was made is still doubtful. You can find three to four stories by different people who claim to have invented it. I love the story of theItalian bartender Martini Di Arma Di Taggia.
They say he mixed dry gin with dry vermouth and added orange bitters at the Knickerbocker Club in New York before World War I and thus made Gin Martini. Still, some people believe that it was invented by Martini & Rossi vermouth. Who really cares as long as it is made well!
What goes into a Hendrick’s Martini
Here are the two important ingredients you need for making a Hendrick’s Gin Martini:
- Hendrick’s Gin: Although you can use a wide range of gins to make a classic Martini cocktail, a Hendrick’s Martini is something completely different and Hendrick’s is quite an unusual gin. For those of you who might not be familiar with Hendrick’s Gin, check out my Lush Life episode with Sasha Filimonov, Hendrick’s Gin UK Brand Ambassador, who reveals all. It’s distilled in Scotland and is infused with cucumber, roses, juniper, orange, and chamomile.
- Dry Vermouth: Dry Vermouth is a fortified, aromatic wine. Originally from France, dry vermouth is known for its floral aroma and flavor. It is a white vermouth infused with different herbs and spices. It has a pale color and is not very sweet. Thus, it pairs well with gin.
One great thing to remember is there is no such thing as the perfect martini, all you need is a fantastic gin and a fresh bottle of vermouth!
- 🍸Top Tip(le): Hendrick’s Gin Cocktail Tips
- Cold Gin: It’s best if you put the Hendrick’s into the freezer to get it really cold beforehand.
- Cold Glass: Always serve the Hendrick’s Martini in a chilled cocktail glass. Whether you use a martini glass or a coupe, make sure it is chilled as it will enhance the flavor of the drink.
- Cold Cucumber: It’s all about the cucumber with Hendricks Gin, so go crazy. To enhance hte notes of cucumber in the gin already, rim the outside of the glass with a cucumber. Muddle cucumber pieces in the mixing glass. Add a cucumber slice on top.
- Garnishes: If you feel like adding other garnishes, try an edible rose petal or a drop of an infusion of rose to bring out the floral notes. You can add a lemon twist, a lemon peel or an orange peel or even cocktail onions or olive juice.
- Limited Edition Gin: If you can find a bottle of Hendrick’s Lunar Gin, grab it. It is their aromatic limited release created by Master Distiller Ms. Lesley Gracie and is a dream for gin lovers around the world
What tools you need to make Hendrick’s Martini
Making a martini is a super easy cocktail recipe. Since it uses two ingredients, the secret is simple; just follow the measurement, and that’s it. No muddling or shaking the drink. The easiest way is simply mix the two ingredients in a mixing glass. Add ice cubes and stir until it is chilled. Pour it in a chilled martini glass or a chilled coupe glass and serve. It is a no-fuss drink!
