Partridge's Chelsea Bun Gun

Chelsea Bun Gin is the third of three gin expressions from Partridge’s. The first two were part of their Chelsea Flower Collection. These gins were launched in 2017 and named from the 17th Century nurseries that made up King’s Road near Partridge’s.

The first was the Chelsea Flower Gin created to celebrate Partridges’ 45th birthday. It has a heady mix of botanicals including flowers such as roses and marigolds. The second expression was names No.2 Chelsea Flower Gin and launched in May 2018 . This expression has a more citrus take infused with bergamot.

Now, five years later and to celebrate Partridge’s 50th birthday – the newest sister, the Chelsea Bun Gin, was born! In 2019, Partridge’s created its first ever World Chelsea Bun Awards Bake Off Competition. I love the thinking that if you have a great Chelsea Bun, then it would lend itself to being a great Chelsea Bun Gin!

How does Partridge’s Chelsea Bun Gin taste

So what does it taste like? For those who have never had a Chelsea Bun, see above. It might be called something else where you live but it should be a sweet pastry that has been stuffed full of raisins, orange pieces, and allspice.

How does this translate into the gin? Think juniper blended with clove and cinnamon and citrus.

  • Color: A light hint of yellow, but clear otherwise
  • Nose: Subtle juniper, hint of spice and mince pies
  • Taste: Warm, light and really yummy even neat.
  • Finish: Slight spice
  • Alcohol: 41.5%

Why Lush Life loves it

I have worked with Partridge’s before and really like John Shephard, the owner and manager. He is super generous and Partridge’s is a wonderful store. Not only do they sell amazing gin, but they have lots of American food! When I am homesick, I walk through the aisles and pick up some Pepperidge Farm’s Goldfish, the perfect accompaniment to go with my Chelsea Bun G&T.
