It’s hard not to want to move to England after watching Cameron Diaz find love and happiness with Jude Law in the snowy, quaint town of Godalming. After seeing the film Holiday, our guest knew she was meant to settle in the UK. Not only did Mia Johansson move from Northern Sweden, but she has conquered the Big Smoke, reigning over Swift, one of the best bars in the world.
Mia Johansson is a force of nature – combining the steely know-how of a surgeon and the compassion of a nurse. She always happened to be at the right place at the right time – starting out under Nick Strangeway, befriending Dick Bradsell, and honing her skills at Milk & Honey. There have been a lot of downs to go with the ups, but she has used her skills to rise above, even garnering the title of Imbibe Personality of the Year 2018.
I was lucky enough to have met Mia in Edinburgh at Tales on Tour, after hearing about her for ages. She knew that I had traveled to the event alone and, after first encounter, she made sure to include me in her entourage. The Swift team became my family for that weekend and I couldn’t wait to have her on the show. It wasn’t only their kindness that has made Swift feel like a second home to me in London, but their Sgroppino – a take on the Venetian classic. I have never, ever seen this cocktail outside of Venice – a city I know so well. Substituting the vodka with Italicus is pure genius and that’s why she and her husband keep winning those awards.
