Why does everyone remember James Bond for ordering a Martini, rather than his other favorite cocktail? Many are unaware that he also enjoyed a “pink gin with Beefeater and plenty of bitters.” Pink Gin originated in the 19th century as a mix of Plymouth Gin (Navy Strength) and Angostura bitters. The dark red bitters gave the drink a blush hue, thus giving birth to pink cocktails. Known as an antidote to seasickness, the addition of gin made the bitters more palatable to naval officers. Now Pink cocktails were as stylish then as the sleek martini is now!
I’ve gathered some of my favorite pink cocktail recipes below and hope you’ll try making a few at home—they’re pretty easy!
