How to Make a Venetian Aperol Spritz

Everyone knows it and loves it. The Aperol Spritz is the beloved Italian cocktail that has gained international popularity! Originating in the Veneto region of Italy, it is now staple of Italian aperitivo culture.

The Aperol Spritz cocktail is remarkably simple to make, requiring just three key ingredients: Aperol, prosecco, and soda water. Aperol is the star of the show with its bright orange hue and bittersweet flavor, prosecco adds the sparkle and the soda water lightens the drink, making it incredibly refreshing.

To prepare an Aperol Spritz, fill a large wine glass with ice, then pour in three parts prosecco, two parts Aperol, and one part soda water. Stir gently to combine, and garnish with a slice of orange for an extra touch of citrusy freshness.

The Aperol Spritz’s low ABV, typically around 11%, makes it an ideal choice for sipping leisurely on a warm afternoon or during early evening aperitivo hours. Whether enjoyed at a chic rooftop bar or a cozy backyard gathering, the Aperol Spritz is sure to elevate any moment with its charming Italian flair.

That’s too much Aperol. For the American pallet it is best (and easier) to have 50% Prosecco, 25% Aperol, and 25% club soda.. For even better taste, use Italian blood orange soda (available in most grocery stores) instead of regular club soda. Also, the Italians typically add a slice of orange, not an olive.
