Want to add a bit more depth to your Margarita? Make it a Hennessy Margarita! Cognac adds that extra zing that works so well with lime and tequila.
Of course, cognac lovers will tell you that sipping is the way to go, but adding Hennessy to a classic Margarita is a simple drink to make and perfect for all the different seasons. It makes a beautiful autumnal beverage as well as a great summer refreshing drink. It can be a sophisticated drink served in a coupe or cocktail glass or served up as Hennessy Slushies in a rocks glass!
If you love cognac or tequila, you will jump at this recipe. We are not talking about adding any cognac! We are talking about the world-famous Hennessy cognac which makes this margarita among the great margaritas and great Hennessy drinks you have ever tried!
What goes into a Hennessy Margarita?
- Tequila reposado: I suggested using Tequila reposado for this recipe. This specific type of tequila is aged in an oak barrel, anywhere from two months to a year. Because of the aging, the flavors are more intense. Of course you can use a Blanco if that is all you have, like Lunazul Blanco tequila or Sauza tequila which are 100% Agave.
- Hennessy Cognac: Hennessy is one of the most recognized names in the industry. It’s definitely got that classy cognac reputation and it’s on the top of the world’s cognac list! it’s well-deserved.
- Triple Sec: Orange flavored liqueur is easy to find. You can also use Cointreau, Grand Marnier or even Patron Citrónge Orange if you want a bit more depth.
- Fresh Lime juice: Only use fresh juice for tanginess and a hint of sweetness.
- Simple Syrup: You can always add a touch of simple sugar syrup if you find the triple sec doesn’t add what you need.
- Garnish: Garnish this drink with a lime wheel, lime wedge, orange slice, or lemon twist. You can even add a maraschino cherry if you like them in your cocktails.
What tools you need to make Hennessy Margarita
You’ll need a cocktail shaker for this one! Grab a jigger, a strainer, and a coupe glass or rocks glass for this Hennessy Margarita recipe.
Follow these three simple steps to make Hennessy Margarita! Pour the tequila, Hennessy, orange liqueur, and lime juice into a cocktail shaker. Add fresh ice cubes, seal the shaker, and start shaking it for about a minute, so that everything infuses together. Strain the margarita into a coupe, rocks or even margarita glass. Garnish with a lime wedge and serve.
- 🍸Top Tip(le): Variations of and additions to the Hennessy Margarita
- Fresh Sour Mix: You can add your own fresh sour mix to give your own perfect balance of sweet and sour. You can use it instead of lime juice.
- Fresh juices: You can substitute any juice if you like. Use fresh pineapple juice instead of orange liqueur. Use fresh lemon juice or orange juice for lime juice. Even add cranberry juice or fresh strawberry juice.
- Hennessy Slushies: Yo can make any the classic Hennessy Margarita or any of the Hennessy drinks as slushies! Just use a slushie machine or add the ingredients to a blender, add ice and then from the blender pour into coupe glasses!
