Most people don’t know that Angostura bitters give the classic Pink Martini recipe its color! That’s all you need – couldn’t be easier!
Pink gin is all the rage now. Bright pink cocktails are a summer must for every bar. Most don’t know that the Pink Martini cocktail recipe is a classic cocktail through and through. With only two ingredients making up its original recipe, gin and angostura bitters, it’s a great option to serve from your home bar at happy hour and wow your guests!
Where was the Pink Martini born
This Pink Martini classic cocktail recipe was born on the high seas. If you were a sailor in the British Royal Navy in the 19th century, you were awarded a daily gin ration. They would add a few dashes of bitters per day as medicine against foreign illness which would be added to the gin. The bitters give the “cocktail” a slight pink hue and so the Pink Martini was born.
What tools you need to make the Pink Martini
You won’t be needing a cocktail shaker for this one! Grab a jigger, a mixing glass, barspoon, strainer, and chilled cocktail glass for this Pink Martini recipe. I adore Martini glasses so that’s my choice!
As I said, only two ingredients necessary in the original recipe – combine gin and angostura bitters – plus ice cubes! You can also add a lemon twist if you want to be fancy!
