Gordon’s Gin, one of the oldest gins on the market, launched a new expression with a bow to the wonderful lemons on the Italian island of Sicily. I say Grazie for Sicilian Lemon Gin!
A Gin and Tonic would be lost without a slice of lemon, so making a G&T with Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon Gin is taking it to a whole other level!
What is Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon Gin
Based on the original recipe of Alexander Gordon, the man who began Gordon’s Gin, the Sicilian Lemon combines the, already, delicious Gordon’s with the best lemons in the world. If you add in tonic, then this could be the most lemony of all Gin and Tonics.
Where was the Gin and Tonic born?
To be brief, the marriage of gin and tonic began as a malaria cure-all. Tonic was made from quinine which was added to tonic water. Due to its better taste, gin was added and thus, the Gin and Tonic was born.
It was the drink for British officers stationed in India during the 19th and early 20th C. Although it won’t cure malaria anymore, the Gin and Tonic is the drink of choice for Brits in the summer, as well as elsewhere in the Mediterranean.
No longer is the Gin and Tonic just imbibed to keep away mosquitos, it has become the mainstay of the European summer.
How to make the Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon & Tonic!
You need to start with the following ingredients to make this gorgeous cocktail!
- Gordon’s Sicilian Lemon Gin
- Tonic
- Lemon
- Ice
- Jigger
- Balloon Glass
- Bar Spoon
Making this cocktail couldn’t be easier:
- Take a Balloon glass and fill it with loads of ice
- Add jigger of the gin
- Top up with the tonic
- Then add a lemon slice as a garnish!
Which tonic should I use
Which tonic you use is really up to you. There are many amazing ones on the market, but I prefer either Fever-Tree Tonic or Fever-Tree Mediterranean.
Do I have to use a Balloon Glass
Balloon glasses are loads of fun. They are used more in continental Europe and every sip out of one of them makes me feel on holiday. It seems that the drink is so much bigger and who doesn’t like that!
Top Tip(ples): If you want to try another Gordon’s Gin cocktail, don’t miss the Gordon’s Pink Gin & Tonic or the Gordon’s Pink Gin Spritz. You can also try your hand at other gin cocktails!
