Home bartenders loves to show off their cocktail making prowess. How amazing to offer your guests your own signature spirit!? There are several on the market that are simple to use and perfect to give as gifts to the home bartender in your life. With your own kit, you can make the artisan gin that you have always wanted.
Am I allowed to make gin at home?
Definitely!! These gin making kits help you combine a neutral spirit (vodka) and different botanicals to find the gin flavor you love. With these kits, you get to pick each botanical and the base spirit you want to use, that’s it!
What if the kit doesn’t include a botanical I want?
You can always buy extra botanicals and add them into the mix. Loads of companies sell different botanical blends or just buy them from your local supermarket. There is no end to the combinations you can try! You are at home doing your own thing, so you can tweak the recipe they give you in any way you wish.
Do I need a still?
Absolutely not! All you need is the kit and a spirit, it doesn’t even have to be vodka. You can even use a non-alcoholic spirit if you want. Each kit will tell you exactly what you need!
Do I have to use vodka?
No, but vodka is the most traditional! A few gins are made with grape – based or other spirits. Use any spirit you like, but don’t forget that juniper is what makes it a gin! You can find a list of spirits in my shop!
How long does it take to make gin?
Most of the kits take from 24 hours to a week to make, so make sure to read the instructions before buying one.
Top Tip(ples): After you’ve purchased one of these kits, you are going to have to make a few gin cocktails, try the Gin Fizz, the Tom Collins, or one of these easy Gin cocktails!
