The Martini, Gin and Tonic, Gin Fizz, Tom Collins are the most popular gin-based cocktails the world over. When making one of these gin cocktails at home, the question is what gin to use. Wouldn’t it be fun if you could use your own gin? You can with one of these super easy gin making kits.
Home bartenders loves to show off their cocktail making prowess. How amazing to offer your guests your own signature spirit!? There are several on the market that are simple to use and perfect to give as gifts to the home bartender in your life. With your own kit, you can make the artisan gin that you have always wanted.
Am I allowed to make gin at home?
Definitely!! These gin making kits help you combine a neutral spirit (vodka) and different botanicals to find the gin flavor you love. With these kits, you get to pick each botanical and the base spirit you want to use, that’s it!
What if the kit doesn’t include a botanical I want?
You can always buy extra botanicals and add them into the mix. Loads of companies sell different botanical blends or just buy them from your local supermarket. There is no end to the combinations you can try! You are at home doing your own thing, so you can tweak the recipe they give you in any way you wish.
Do I need a still?
Absolutely not! All you need is the kit and a spirit, it doesn’t even have to be vodka. You can even use a non-alcoholic spirit if you want. Each kit will tell you exactly what you need!
Do I have to use vodka?
No, but vodka is the most traditional! A few gins are made with grape – based or other spirits. Use any spirit you like, but don’t forget that juniper is what makes it a gin! You can find a list of spirits in my shop!
How long does it take to make gin?
Most of the kits take from 24 hours to a week to make, so make sure to read the instructions before buying one.

Sandy Leaf Farm Ultimate Gin Maker’s Kit
I love this Gin Making Kit and am so happy it is available in the USA. They give you enough ingredients for ten bottles of gin – all different blends. You can also always contact them if you need any help with the recipe. It also has a booklet with a history of gina and cocktail recipes! It’s geo free and ethically sourced!
I do adore that this was featured in Vogue! There are enough botanicals in this kit to make 3 bottles of gin at home. Plus they give you recipes for cocktails to make. It takes about 48 hours all in because you really want to infuse the spirit with the juniper for at least 24 hours by itself.
