Of course, a bit of espresso and ice cream in this Snowball cocktail recipe make it Italian! I’m not sure about the cream soda though 😉
Where the Snowball Cocktail was born
According to Difford’s Guide, the Snowball was thought to hail from Britain and been popular in the 1940’s and 50’s, reaching its apex of popularity in the 1970’s! Somehow that does not surprise me as it does seem a very 1970’s cocktail.
What is Advocaat
Made from eggs, brandy, sugar, Advocaat is like eggnog on steroids. The Dutch have been enjoying it since 17th C , usually as a Christmas treat. It is the most delicious custard in a glass you can find!
Advocaat is the Dutch word for lawyer and it is thought to have been a spirit that would help ease the throat of the particularly loquacious Dutch legal practitioners of the 19th C.
