The Whisky Lounge announce a unique virtual tasting, uniting the English Whisky industry, with donations going to The Drinks Trust

To coincide with St George’s Day, The Whisky Lounge have today [April 23rd] announced a unique tasting – bringing together five of the most exciting names in English whisky for a live event on Friday 8th May. The tasting aims to shine a spotlight on the English Whisky revolution, educating consumers about some of the pioneering brands who are putting English Whisky firmly on the map, and winning awards globally for the liquid they are creating.

The Whisky Lounge is proud to be working with The English Whisky Company, The Cotswolds Distillery, The Lakes Distillery, Bimber Distillery and The Spirit of Yorkshire to showcase the quality and diversity of five homegrown Single Malts to curious whisky fans everywhere in this online tasting.

Hosted by the founder of The Whisky Lounge, Eddie Ludlow, the tasting is a true collaboration of these soon to be iconic English Whisky brands, and the people who make it, who will all be introducing their own whiskies, live on the night.

The tasting will end with a live Q&A, giving participants a unique opportunity to quiz the brands about their whiskies and the industry in general. Those joining the tasting will be:

  • The English Whisky Company’s owner, Andrew Nelstrop
  • The Spirit of Yorkshire’s whisky maker and director of whisky, Joe Clark
  • Cotswolds Distillery’s owner Daniel Szor
  • The Lakes Distillery’s whisky maker Dhavall Gandhi
  • Bimber Distillery’s brand ambassador, Luke Juranek

‘English Whisky – It’s a Thing’ is the next iteration of The Whisky Lounge’s ‘Taste at Home’ series, a new initiative set-up to help continue to educate whisky enthusiasts. For each pack sold of ‘English Whisky – It’s a Thing’, £5 will be donated to The Drinks Trust to support those affected by COVID-19 in the drinks trade.

The tasting pack line up exclusively features English Single Malt whiskies, including a new and unreleased whisky from Bimber distillery. The full line-up is below:

  • The English Whisky Company – ‘Double Cask’ 46%
  • Bimber Distillery – ‘Ex-Bourbon Cask’ 56.4% *New and unreleased*
  • The Spirit of Yorkshire – ‘Filey Bay Moscatel Finish’ 46%
  • The Cotswolds Distillery – ‘Founder’s Choice’ 60.5%
  • The Lakes Distillery – ‘Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.2’ 60.9%

Whisky Lounge Founder, and host for the ‘English Whisky – It’s a Thing’ tasting, Eddie Ludlow, commented on the collaboration:

To have these five incredible distilleries collaborate for this unique event is hugely exciting both for us and our industry, particularly in these very challenging times. As far as we are aware, this is one of the very first times this has been done so we hope that whisky-drinkers in the UK will really enjoy the escape of tasting these homegrown Single Malt whiskies alongside those leading the English whisky revolution.”
