Conceived in 1923, CUTTY SARK Blended Scotch Whisky marked its 100th anniversary in style this year! Make sure to get your hands on the whisky’s commemorative CUTTY SARK Centenary Edition!
I was invited to a special event at Berry Bros & Rudd at No. 3 St James’s Street in London, the exact place where the CUTTY SARK brand was created originally, to not only celebrate the historic occasion of CUTTY SARK turning 100, but also to sample the Centenary Edition which was created specifically for this incredible birthday.
Named for the iconic Cutty Sark ship which today sits in Greenwich, London for all to wonder at its brilliance, CUTTY SARK Blended Scotch Whisky has since become one of the most recognziable brands in the world.
Aged for 23 years, The special Centenary Edition is a blend of hand-selected whiskies from some of Scotland’s most legendary distilleries sitting for over 100 days in ex-Port casks. These ingredients create a whisky with hints of caramel and chocolate and flavors of soft fruits and spice.
The special edition of only 1,435 numbered bottles, each encased in its own special packing which recalls its Cutty Sark clipper connections. The bottle is embraced by mainsall with rope and its cork is topped by cleat-shaped cork.
There is also a special 100th Anniversary limited-edition design of the original CUTTY SARK’s whisky with its own label and box.
Manon Brochet, CUTTY SARK Brand Manager, said: “We are so proud to celebrate 100 years of CUTTY SARK Blended Scotch Whisky aboard our namesake, the Cutty Sark ship. Brimming with flavours fathoms deep, our CUTTY SARK Centenary Edition gives a real flavour of our whisky’s century of adventure.
And we are celebrating around the world thanks to our Anniversary Edition and dramatic video campaign. With the wind in our sails since 1923, we are looking forward to sharing many more adventures with CUTTY SARK lovers in the years to come!”
Happy Anniversary!!
