How to Make the Banana Daiquiri

The Banana Daiquiri is a variation on the classic Daiquiri, which dates back to early twentieth century Cuba. As tropical fruit cocktails gained popularity, especially in mid century America, banana quickly found its place in the mix.

Banana Daiquiri

Blending rum, lime, and banana creates a softer, sweeter take on the original while still keeping that essential citrus backbone. It can be shaken or frozen, depending on the style you prefer. It is a drink that leans into tropical flavour without losing its structure.

Why Lush Life Loves It

I like this when I want something that feels a bit more indulgent than a classic Daiquiri. It is smooth, slightly creamy, and always feels like a small escape.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz white rum
  • 1 oz fresh lime juice
  • ¾ oz simple syrup
  • ½ ripe banana (or 1 oz banana liqueur for a cleaner texture)
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender with a generous scoop of ice
  • Blend until smooth and slightly thick
  • Pour into a chilled coupe or hurricane glass

Notes

If you want it more classic and less “smoothie,” shake instead of blend and use banana liqueur instead of fresh banana. If you want it richer, use the fresh banana and push the lime slightly higher to keep the balance.
