How can you not love this gorgeous Pink Gin Spritz cocktail? I remember the first time I saw gin turn pink and thought it was a magic drink. Now you can get it anytime with no magic involved!
This Pink Gin Spritz is made specifically with Gordon’s Pink Gin, but it can be made with any pink gin! You can even create your own pink gin with gin and bitters.
It’s super easy and is a little fizz and some strawberries. Build everything in a wine glass and topped with prosecco!
What is Pink Gin
Originally, pink gin was a simple combination of gin and a few dashes of Angostura bitters. It was all the rage in the 19th century and, now 200 years later, is taking the gin drinking world by storm. Even James Bond was a fan of it when he wasn’t drinking martinis! Check out The Man with the Golden Gun.
In the olden days, the bitters gave it a red hue. Now in the 21st century, Pink Gin has become insanely popular. Gordon’s Pink Gin is all a-blush with hints of red fruit like strawberries, raspberries and red currants giving it a sweetness that is otherwise not present in traditional gin.
What is a Spritz
We actually have the Germans to thank for the spritz, aka spritzen (to spray)! In the 19th C, the Austro-Hungarian troops arrived in the Veneto and immediately began ordering Italian wine, as one does.
The urban myth is that this wine was a tad stronger than they were used to, so they spritzed a bit of water in. Thus, the Spritz cocktail as we know it was born!
How to make Gordon’s Pink Gin Spritz
You need to start with really great ingredients to make the Gin Fizz. There are only a few ingredients and you want this cocktail to shine! So get some really good lemonade or make your own. I love Fever-Tree Sparkling Lemonade which you can get in the USA or Fentimans Rose Lemonade in the UK!
In terms of Prosecco, I prefer a drier one, like Collalbrigo DOCG Brut Prosecco or it’s fun to have a pink Prosecco, like the Bottega Rose Gold Prosecco! Also fresh strawberries make the difference and loads of ice!
Making this cocktail couldn’t be easier: Just fill a large wine glass with ice, measure out the Gordon’s Pink Gin with my favorite jigger, then add the lemonade. Give it a quick stir with your gorgeous barspoon.
Top with Prosecco and stir gently again. Then throw in a few fresh strawberries and you are done!
