Lush Guide - Brno

Brno has built a solid reputation among discerning drinkers and offers bars that are always filled with tourists and locals alike. The city has countless options where you can enjoy an authentic drinking experience.

In my Lush Guide, I’ll share the best bars in Brno that will help you find a drinking establishment that suits your style and preferences the best.

Bar, Který Neexistuje (The Bar That Doesn't Exist)

Bar, Který Neexistuje (The Bar That Doesn’t Exist)

Bar, Který Neexistuje, literally translates to “the bar that doesn’t exist.” The owners had a FaceBook page before the bar officially opened in 2012 called “the bar that doesn’t exist” and everyone got used to calling it that, so even after they opened the bar’s name remained the same.

Thanks to the genius of owners Jan Vlachynský and Andrej Vališ, two university friends, the bar scene in Brno changed forever when Bar, Který Neexistuje opened. Here, with its stylish Chester sofas and grand crystal chandelier, they are here to prive that bar very much exists. It even has made an appearance as one of the best bars in the New York Times.

Located downtown on Dvořákova street, just a few steps away from Brno city center and the main square, Bar, Který Neexistuje is considered the best cocktail bar in Brno and is a great place to start or finish an evening.

The friendly staff will happily oblige and whip up a tailor-made cocktail using your favorite spirit or one of a good selection of Czech spirits they have on hand. he Bar, Který Neexistuje has its own signature cocktail menu! Also don’t miss the hamburgers of you are hungry – the best in town.

Established in 2018, the Whiskey Bar, Který Neexistuje is located on Gorkého street, a bit out of the centre, but definitely worth the short trip. It’s the best place in town for whisky lovers and you can take your pick from some great Scotch or US, Japanese, and even Czech whiskies.

Their M.O. is to prove that there is a whisky for everyone out there. So the team is always on hand to give you some great recommendations. Ask them for a flight to try more of their over 200 bottles. The menu is filled with creative whisky forward cocktails as you would assume, but there is something for everyone.

If you truly do not like the noble spirit, there is Czech beer on one tap, as well as dry cider and classic lager from Jarošov. The food is really great too, with steak tartare, oysters, vegetarian options, and other hearty fare.

Super Panda Circus, Brno

Super Panda Circus

Super Panda Circus is “a gateway to another world hidden behind a gold and velvet curtain”. This is how the press release describes it and I can think of no better way!

It really is an eccentric drinking den that has set a ridiculously high standard for other bars in Brno. You would walk right by it if you didn’t know it was there. Hidden inside a discreet office building, you ring the doorbell and enter into a like fantasy of a bar.

The bar room is a sight to behold with its circus-themed seats and panda decor. But it’s not only about the decor, because the cocktail have to be good! And they are! Asian-inspired cocktails make up their menu which changes annually, using ingredients like Indian tamarind, Yuzu marmalade, and Japanese shiso plant to create some fabulous cocktails.

They also have a cocktail tasting menu if you want to go all out! You just cannot miss a visit here if you are a cocktail lover!

Slast, Brno

Slast

Down a small corridor, through a small white and some steep stairs, and you’re suddenly in an underground bar maze with the vibes of a 18th-century dungeon.

They have some innovative cocktails, impressive art, a limited food menu, and shisha if you are so inclined. You can take your pick from their collection of 180 bottles for some shots or go with beer or wine (red, white, or bubbly).

Apart from the Cuban classics like caipirinhas, mojitos, and daiquiris, they will make anything you like. You can even have a tasting menu prepared to your liking based on the destination from which the rum comes!

The bar is divided into different sections, and you can choose to sit in the place that suits your mood. While the upper part, right by the main bar, is bigger and livelier, the downstairs has a dance floor and a party lounge. The basement’s second part has a tasting lounge with its own bar.

Brno

Why Lush Life loves Brno!

Brno is the entry gate to the traditional wine region of South Moravia. There may be many good reasons to visit Brno, like the Moravian Karst, Christmas markets, Zelný Trh (Cabbage market), Spilberk Castle, and even the Old Town hall tower that’s been around since the 13th century.

However, if you’re in search of the best spot for some good drinks, you needn’t search far. Brno has some amazing bars; some are even the best in Czech, and it is one cool place. I am just sorry I wasn’t about to try Jekyll & Hyde!
