How to Make the Gin & It

The Gin and It is a simple but historic cocktail combining gin with Italian sweet vermouth. It was especially popular in the early twentieth century before drier styles became dominant. It shows how tastes have shifted over time.

The vermouth plays a much larger role here, giving the drink a softer and more rounded profile. It is less sharp than a Martini. The result is smoother and more relaxed.

Why Lush Life Loves It

I like this when I want something in the Martini family but less direct. It feels easier to drink without losing its identity. It is one I come back to more than expected.

Susan
The Gin Foundry who created the Gin & It writes "The Gin & It is an obnoxiously named cocktail that falls somewhere between a Martini, a Martinez and every other descendent of that Gin/Vermouth marriage. Fruity and bitter-sweet, the complex botanical make-up of Sweet Vermouth meets its Gin partner in a flurry of flavours, with more plants dancing across the tongue than is truly discernible."
