Our guest today has the luxury of living in a country where you can study beer making at university. Reinhard Engel was fortunate enough to take his love for lager and make it his life’s work. In the thirty years that he has been the braumeister and owner of the Nürnberger Altstadthof, he has not only revived a beer recipe thought lost forever, but also gone on to create other award winning spirits.
You can visit the distillery and sip their beer, whisky, gin, beer brandy, as well as try their home-cooked favorites including the famous Nuremberg sausage at their restaurant and beer garden. If you’re lucky, Reinhard might even give you a small tour of the city’s 26,000 kilometres of beer cellars!
