Taking place from Monday 11th – Sunday 17th September across London, the first official London Mezcal Week is just around the corner, offering a series of amazing events celebrating Mezcal, Mexican culture, art and food, ending with an incredible two-day Mexico Independence tasting festival.
Throughout the week, a series of social events in venues across the city will champion the diverse creativity of Mexico as as well as the magical story of the agave plant, from which Mezcal is made. From art exhibitions and panel discussions, to the creation of a Mexican mural, Mezcal masterclasses and food pairings, each event will uncover the fascinating world of Mezcal and its place in Mexican culture. Please find below the list of events taking place:
The headline tasting event on Saturday & Sunday will take place in Hackney and feature the UK’s biggest ever Mezcal tasting, where ticket holders can taste over 30 samples and talk to many of the faces behind the brands. Independent brands are given precedence at this festival, which will be focusing on traditionally made Mezcals and the families behind them, donating a proportion of ticket sales to them along with charities working within the agave community. Guests can also enjoy an array of Mexican street food, a Mezcal bar serving cocktails and beers, along with art, DJs and live music.
Some of London’s finest Mexican restaurants will be involved in events throughout the week including Bad Sports, El Pastor, Santo Remedio and Temper, and there will be a pop up Mezcaleria running at the tasting event selling custom designed cocktails from some of London’s leading bartenders and drinks brands, such as The London Essence Company.
