China rounds out the top 10 and continues to be one of Scotch whisky’s fastest-growing markets. Premium Scotch has become a symbol of celebration, gifting, and business hospitality, while younger consumers are increasingly discovering single malts through whisky bars and tasting events. As interest in luxury spirits continues to grow, China is expected to become an even more important market for Scotland’s distillers.

Poland has quietly become one of Europe’s strongest Scotch markets. Rising incomes and growing interest in premium spirits have helped Scotch move beyond special occasions into everyday enjoyment. The United States remains one of the world’s most important markets for Scotch whisky. While exports have faced recent challenges, Americans continue to enjoy everything from everyday blends to collectible single malts. The U.S. is still the largest export market by value, even though it ranks third by volume.
2. France
The French may be famous for wine, but they also have a long-standing love affair with Scotch whisky. France has consistently ranked among Scotland’s biggest export markets, with blended Scotch especially popular. Whether enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail, Scotch remains firmly established across the country.
1. India
India is now the world’s largest export market for Scotch whisky by volume. Already the world’s biggest whisky-drinking nation, demand for premium Scotch continues to grow as more consumers trade up from domestic brands. A new UK–India trade agreement that reduces import duties is expected to strengthen this trend even further, making India one of the industry’s most exciting growth markets.
