Skylight at Tobacco Dock will be kicking off another spectacular sun-filled season on 3rd May 2018. Skylight became one of London’s most popular and imaginative rooftop destinations after its smashing launch in 2017 and is now a firm fixture on any summer hotlist. This year sees the return of Skylight’s urban lawn club setting and with it, a whole host of new additions, improvements and surprises.
Soaring above London’s most unique event venue, Tobacco Dock in Wapping, Skylight boasts three floors of bars, street food, live entertainment, croquet, pétanque, screens, DJs and an unrivalled view of London’s iconic skyline. Whether battling it out on the croquet lawn, cheering on a World Cup game or Wimbledon match on the big screen, chilling with a post-work spritz or soaking up a no-filter sunset, Skylight has a summer experience for everyone.
Created in 2017 by INTERACT and the team behind Tobacco Dock, the original Skylight project breathed new life into an unused space in central London, launching both a successful summer season and a hugely popular winter pop-up complete with Europe’s only rooftop ice rink. Skylight is conveniently located beside Tower Bridge and the thriving scene of Shoreditch, and brushes shoulders with Canary Wharf and The City. Skylight boasts unobstructed views of some of London’s most iconic buildings, including The Shard, The Gherkin and The Walkie Talkie.
This year, Skylight will be bringing quintessentially British lawn games to new inner-city heights. An assortment of indoor and outdoor games features across the different levels of the 650 capacity venue, including four croquet lawns (two outdoor) and two pétanque courts. With prices starting from £15, teams made up of two to six people for croquet and two to four people for pétanque will be able to book the game of their choice in half hour or 45 minute slots. This year, Skylight will also be hosting tournaments and prize giveaways in a bid to find London’s best players as well as a penalty shoot-out football game in time for the World Cup.
Skylight isn’t just about games. Each level of Skylight is dotted with bars serving an all-new refreshing seasonal cocktail menu alongside spritzes, pitchers, bubbly and wine. Ice-cold beers on tap will include Staropramen, Blue Moon, Wolf Rock Red IPA and Sharps Brands. The bars will also feature Aspal Cyder on tap, the full range of Bacardi spirts and Laurent Perrier champagne by the glass and bottle.
The newly extended raised platform bar – doubled in size from last summer – will have a lounge feel. Panoramically perched, the platform terrace is the city’s best sunset-watching spot. On the lower level, street food trader Yiro is back and will serve the ultimate summer dishes with their stunning focus on world-flavours.
New for 2018, Skylight has installed big screens throughout the venue and will be broadcasting live games from the football World Cup, the Wimbledon Championships and other special events when open. With snacks and beers only a few steps away and seating for all kinds of groups, Skylight offers the perfect all-inclusive package to enjoy the big game.
Boasting a creative in-house events team, Skylight will host special events and one-off parties throughout the summer season. Resident DJ collectives Gold Teeth and Coastal Haze will get the party going once every month, and the venue will host daytime events like rooftop yoga. Available for full and partial hire, Skylight welcomes private parties and corporate events of all sizes and styles.
Thursday & Friday 5pm – 11pm, Saturday & Sunday – 12pm – 11pm Entry to Skylight is free.
